Best Sleep Apnea Machines: 2020 Edition

Looking For The Best Sleep Apnea Machine On The Market?

When purchasing a Sleep Apnea machine, multiple factors will influence your decision not just whether a machine is the latest device on the market or not. The true signs that predict whether a machine will become a bestseller are factors such as affordability, ease of use, brand warranty, design features and travel friendliness.

While the type of PAP machine you use will be determined by your sleep specialist, exactly which brand of machine you choose is entirely up to you. So, without further ado, let’s discuss the best Sleep Apnea machines that patients have been enjoying this year.

Our Top-Rated PAP Machines Of 2020

Our team scoured the entire catalogue of the Sleep Apnea machines that we sell and consulted with our customers when compiling this list of top-rated PAP machines of this year so far. And we hope that you won’t be disappointed with our selection.

Let’s get started.

AirSense 10 AutoSet with HumidAir

ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet

Price: $1,270

Manufacturer: ResMed (machine parts made in Australia and Singapore)

Size: 256.5mm L x 117mm H x 150mm D

Warranty Period: 3 years with CPAPmachines.ca

User Guide: See ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet user guide

ResMed is a well-known manufacturer of PAP equipment and has been releasing various models of Sleep Apnea machines for years. It is for this reason that this brand is seen as an innovator in its field and is considered one of the most well-respected manufacturers of medical equipment.

When it comes to the AirSense 10 AutoSet with HumidAir (which also comes in a For Her version), while it is on the slightly more expensive side than other counterparts such as the F&P SleepStyle Auto, it does offer great value especially as due to brand recognition, ResMed products come with premium pricing.

This Auto CPAP machine has a built-in humidifier, is packed with smart technology and comfort features such as SmartStart and AutoRamp, and operates at the very quiet noise level of 26.6 decibels. Although many customers of the AirSense 10 AutoSet have noted that it is not quite designed for portability, it is still lightweight enough for travel purposes and is small enough to fit in a suitcase.

While there is much praise for this PAP machine in terms of the great features it offers and its ability to deliver a good nights’ rest, users have noted some downsides. For example, the backlight of the machine’s LCD display can be too dim to read at night and some users have had issues with the auto ramp facility not functioning properly.

Additionally, users commented on the fact that the previous model (the S9) provided the ability to detach the humidifier for a slimmer profile while travelling. However, the S10 version requires you to purchase a separate side cover at a cost of $25 in order to detach the humidifier. Some users have expressed that they preferred the smaller profile of the S9 with the humidifier removed.

Having said that, this is still a highly sought after Auto CPAP machine. Those willing to invest in the ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet know that they’re getting exceptional quality for what they pay for. Many of our customers have said that they wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase this machine again.

DreamStation Auto Expert with Humidifier

DreamStation Auto Expert

Price: $749.98

Manufacturer: Philips Respironics (made in the United States)

Size: 11.7 L x 3.3 H x 7.6 W (inches)

Warranty Period: 3 years

User Guide: See DreamStation Auto Expert with Humidifier user guide

The Philip Respironics DreamStation and DreamWear range provide quality and affordable Sleep Apnea equipment. Similar to ResMed, Philip Respironics as a manufacturing brand operating in the medical equipment space is highly respected by many sleep specialists.

This low-profile, innovative machine is considerably cheaper than the AirSense 10 AutoSet yet offers just as many great features. The DreamStation offers ramp and advanced P-Flex pressure relief settings that many users have claimed have helped them sleep better. Additionally, its automatic pressure setting ensures that you’ll stay asleep during the night.

The features praised most by CPAP users are how quiet this Sleep Apnea machine is and its heated tubing. Operating at 25.8 decibels, it is one of the quietest CPAP machines on the market. The DreamStation Auto Expert is perfect for those who are noise sensitive. Additionally, the heated tubing provides great comfort during the night.

One downside that some users have noted is that the optional humidifier’s water chamber is quite small in comparison to other models (325 ml for the DreamStation Auto Expert vs 380ml for the AirSense 10) and may not provide enough water resources for a full 8 hours of sleep. With that said, the DreamStation range continues to be one of our bestsellers.

SleepStyle Auto

SleepStyle Auto

Price: $1040

Manufacturer: Fisher & Paykel

Size: 6.9 W x 5.6 H x 7.2 D (inches)

Warranty Period: 3 years

User Guide: See SleepStyle Auto user guide

Another top-rated PAP machine is the SleepStyle Auto designed and manufactured by Fisher & Paykel. As a PAP brand, this company has been creating Sleep Apnea equipment for many years and gained a loyal following by many across the world.

Released in 2018, the SleepStyle Auto provides a simplistic design that puts comfort and ease of use at the forefront for users. A smaller machine than others, it features impressive responsive ramp features such as SensAwake technology, ThermoSmart tubing and expiratory relief.

While not as quiet as the DreamStation Auto Expert, users of the SleepStyle Auto note that it’s not disruptive from a noise perspective and have complimented it on the fact that it is easy to clean and provides great sleep data onscreen and via the app - apnea events, mask leak info and therapy hours. These machines are also known and praised for their excellent humidification.

One of the downsides of this machine is that it is slightly more expensive than other Sleep Apnea machines we stock, so might not suit all patient’s budgets.
