Best CPAP Masks Of 2020

Choose Only The Best When It Comes To Your CPAP Mask

The key to effective CPAP therapy is your comfort. If you have a machine that is too noisy or a CPAP mask with straps that dig into your skin each night, it’s not ideal. That is why when it comes to choosing the best Sleep Apnea mask for you, pick the one that suits your needs most.

Masks are not one-size-fits-all. Factors such as facial shape, your preferred sleeping position, whether you are a mouth breather vs a nose breather, and cost can all influence your decision. Not sure where to start? That’s where we come in.

We’ve done the hard work for you and have scoured the CPAP supplies market for the best CPAP masks available to purchase right now. Here at CPAPMachines.ca, we only advocate for those masks that are highly-rated by customers, are expertly designed, and most importantly, are extremely comfortable to wear.

CPAP Masks Reviews: Top-Rated Masks So Far This Year

When browsing for a new mask, it is always beneficial to have a list in your mind of what you want the mask to do for you. Are you looking for a super-secure and sturdy design that will mold to your face no matter how much you toss and turn during the night? Or are you looking for a mask that is minimal in design so that you can read with no obstructions in your line of sight?

We’ve taken all of these into consideration when putting together our list of the best masks you need to hear about this year. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

Fisher & Paykel Evora CPAP Mask

The Evora CPAP Mask is one of Fisher & Paykel’s recent revolutionary designs. Unlike other Sleep Apnea masks, this mask was designed with CapFit headgear. Essentially, this means that CPAP users can easily slip the mask over their heads similar to putting on a baseball cap. With a one-size headgear, this mask’s design is simple and intuitive.

That’s not the only feature that makes this mask so innovative. The Evora mask was designed with the next generation of Dynamic Support Technology. This feature comprises a floating, soft seal that sits comfortably under the nose providing a next-level seal.

If you are a CPAP user that is looking for a nasal mask that is robust enough to keep itself in place comfortably all night while also enjoying the streamlined design of a nasal pillow mask, then the Fisher & Paykel Evora mask could be the option for you.

However, saying that, some user reviews have noted that the headgear and around the cushion can cause some discomfort when rubbing up against either the nose or the face.

Price: $135

Comfort: The Evora CPAP mask does offer a simplified design and a particularly soft cushion seal. However, the headgear could lead to some discomfort for certain users. 7/10

Durability: While users may find some wear and tear along the straps of the headgear, this nasal mask provides a good degree of durability and should be replaced after one year. 8/10

Mask Seal: The Dynamic Support Technology feature of the Evora mask offers reliable seal protection against mask leaks and is one of the defining features of this mask. 9/10

Stability: The CapFit headgear adds extra stability and is an intuitive fit. It’s stability wings also ensure that the mask is kept in place during the night while providing freedom of movement. 8/10

ResMed Swift FX & Swift FX For Her Nasal Pillow Mask

Next on the list is the ResMed Swift FX and Swift FX For Her Nasal Pillow mask. This has long been a favourite of ours here at CPAPMachines.ca. If you are looking for a mask that you can easily forget you’re wearing, look no further.

The ResMed Swift FX was designed with one core task in mind: providing a minimalistic design that maximizes performance. Covering as little of your face as possible, this nasal pillow mask offers a dual-wall design and soft, flexible cushion that provides a comfortable seal throughout the night. The addition of the soft fleece backing on the silicone headgear means that the mask will stay in place and won’t irritate the skin.

This nasal pillow mask is ideal for those individuals who are active sleepers that move a lot in their sleep, frequent travelers looking for a lightweight design and side sleepers that want a mask that provides improved stability.

One con of this mask is that there is no swivel where the tubing meets the mask. This can make the mask feel a little restrictive easily if you’re an active sleeper.

Price: $135

Comfort: With many cushion sizes, it is one of the most comfortable masks available. 8/10

Durability: The silicone is very durable while the single strap and cushions are built to be long-lasting. However, the short hose is prone to deterioration so may need to be replaced frequently and you should always follow the manufacturers’ guidelines for replacing mask parts. 8/10

Mask Seal: The double-wall nasal pillow design provides an excellent seal and is less likely to leak in comparison to other masks. 9/10

Stability: Despite the silicone straps sometimes shifting in place, the ResMed Swift FX and Swift FX For Her provide good stability even for the most active of sleepers. 8/10

ResMed AirFit N30i

The ResMed AirFit N30i offers a tube-up nasal cradle mask design and has been praised by many users for its ease of use and stability.

The AirFit N30i is easily fastened with velcro tabs meaning that the headgear can be loosened or tightened as needed. With just four core parts, this nasal CPAP mask is very easy to maintain. Featuring a detachable elbow, when cleaning is required, you can freshen up this mask in a breeze. ResMed also claims that the N30i is one of the quietest masks on the market with a sound level rating of 24 decibels.

It’s simple and yet, effective design means that it is comfortable for all CPAP users to wear even those who are active sleepers. With a redesigned headgear to improve flexibility, you not only get comfort but also a great fit and no vision obstructions.

Yet, some users of the ResMed AirFit N30i have noted that they experienced some struggle with easily disconnecting the tubing from the top of the frame during the night causing them to wake up. Additionally, other users noted that overtime they had to tighten straps more to fit snugly to their face.

Price: $150

Comfort: The AirFit N30i was designed to increase comfort and reduce irritation. It succeeded in providing this. The nasal cradle cushion is lightweight, offers minimal touchpoints, and is user-friendly. The headgear also adjusts easily and comes in one-size making replacing parts easier. 8/10

Durability: The ResMed AirFit N30i offers a silicone tubing which provides substantial durability. However, it can be prone to signs of wear and tear after some time. In terms of the cushion, it is always advisable to replace this at least every six months. 8/10

Mask Seal: The AirFit N30i has been recognized as one of the most active-sleeper friendly masks and it’s not hard to see why. The hollow frames in combination with great cushion seal means that users can sleep in any position they like without. 10/10

Stability: The self-adjusting SpringFit frame is not only quick to fit but also stays comfortably in place all night no matter how much you move. The integrated chassis also provides additional support to the front and sides of the nasal cushion.  10/10

DreamWear Full Face CPAP Mask

The Philips Respironics DreamWear Full Face mask is considered as one of the sleekest full face CPAP masks on the market. And it’s not hard to see why.

The Dreamwear line of masks has always been highly rated by Sleep Apnea patients and the full face mask version is no different. This mask was designed to feel like you have nothing on your face at all. It was built with a thorough understanding of facial geometry and proprietary tools for improving comfort.

The headgear straps at the bottom of the mask help to anchor the silicone nasal cushion in place. Similar to a nasal mask, the nasal outlet sits underneath the bridge of the nose but also covers the mouth entirely. This makes it compatible for both mouth and nose breathers.

The unique design also means that this full face mask doesn’t block your vision, unlike others on the market. So, you can easily read a book, watch TV or even wear your glasses. With the tubing attached at the top of the head, you are also provided with maximum movement. No fear of getting caught up in tubing with this mask.

Although complaints about this mask are few and far between, some users have noted that they experienced minor mask leakages around the nasal area which required some troubleshooting to resolve. While others noted that getting sized for this mask did leave them feeling confused.

Price: $159.98

Comfort: Respironics designed this mask to feel like you aren’t wearing anything at all and that’s exactly what they achieved. The lightweight design combined with the intuitive tube-up frame and clear vision make this a very comfortable full face mask. 9/10

Durability: The Dreamwear full face mask puts up a good fight when it comes to durability. The silicone tube is strong and doesn’t tear easily. However, other silicone parts and the fabric part of the headgear is susceptible to the same level of wear and tear as other masks. 8/10

Mask Seal: While this mask does provide a comfortable seal, in terms of seal reliability it has been known to lack in this category especially in comparison to the AirFit N30i. If you are a person that moves a lot in your sleep, you may experience mask leaks on occasion. 7/10

Stability: The design of the Dreamwear full face was aimed at paving the way for full face CPAP mask offering great stability. The four-point headgear design provides additional support to reduce the amount of mask movement during the night. However, general wear and tear can impact this ability over time.  8/10

CPAP Mask Buying Guide: Considerations To Keep In Mind

Finding the ideal mask is one of the key components to making sure CPAP therapy is successful. That is why following a CPAP mask buying guide is always a good rule of thumb. It is important that you keep a number of considerations in mind before investing in a Sleep Apnea mask.

  • Understand your breathing style: Make sure you know whether you are a nose or mouth breather
  • Keep sizing in mind: Many CPAP masks come in different sizing options e.g. regular sizing, fitpacks with all size cushions available and sizing For Her. Make sure that you consult a CPAP vendor and research available sizing guides if you are unsure which size is best suited for your facial shape.
  • Are you an allergy sufferer: If you suffer from severe allergies on a regular basis, nasal or full face masks are the best option for you and will provide you with the most comfortable therapy.
  • Understand how CPAP pressure will affect your choice: While your sleep specialist will prescribe you with the correct pressure level, knowing how it impacts your mask options is helpful. For example, if you have been prescribed a high CPAP pressure, then a nasal pillow mask will not be sufficient for your needs.

Here at CPAPMachines.ca, our vendors are experts in ensuring that your CPAP mask suits your needs.
